Dow Jones Industrials - Closing Prices

Daily % Change For One Month

This JOHO image is an example of the type of display that JOHO can create from stock market price information. It shows about 600 data points in one comprehensible view. This type of image makes direct comparisons among companies over time much easier than traditional stock market graphing tools.

We update this image every night. Bookmark this page and come back every day to see what the Dow Jones Industrial stocks are really doing!

With our DSI Service you can send us a list of stocks, mutual funds, and indices, and we will generate a similar image of your stocks or mutual funds and e-mail it to you every day (JOHO software is not required).

Image Layout

Each column in the panel represents one trading day. The dates appear at the bottom of the panel. The panel covers the last month of trading.

Each row of the panel represents one company in the Dow Jones Industrials. The company names are labeled down the left and right sides of the panel. One row is the Dow Jones Industrial Average™

The rows (companies) are sorted so that the company with the highest percent change on the last day is at the top, and the one with the lowest is at the bottom.

Each cell indicates the percent change in the closing price of a company's stock measured relative to the closing price on the previous day. The legend at the right shows how to translate the colors in the panel into percent change. We use "good colors" of green to cyan to white to indicate positive percent changes, and "cautionary colors" of yellow to orange to red to black to indicate negative percent changes. Dark blue indicates zero percent change.

Image Interpretation

Anyone interested the the stock market is familiar with the usual statement of the rise and fall of the Dow Jones Industrials. While such a composite number is interesting, only an inspection of the individual companies can give a true picture of the group.

This JOHO image conveys all the information that you would discover by plotting last-month graphs of the stocks individually, except that in this image you rank the companies and directly compare the companies to each other on each day. The commonly available charts of closing prices make this ranking and comparison impossible.

This site also contains a Total Percent Change image.

More about JOHO

This image is an example of the use of American Image, Inc.'s system to display a large amount of stock market data in an easily understood manner. There is a huge variety in the quantities that traditional stock market analytic tools chart. JOHO can display most of these quantities as images, resulting in much faster and more efficient  analysis and understanding. JOHO can make images from "raw" data, like this one, or  can calculate new by combining data sets to display any quantity relevant to the customer. A single image can display more than one million data values.
